Silverback has gained a reputation in the music industry by finding artists at the early stage of their career, and developing them into successful music entities. Most of Silverback’s clients garner success on independent labels prior to attempting to have commercial success at a major label. We have a history of developing acts into self-sufficient touring entities that sell anywhere from 70,000-100,000 records independently. Silverback believes that to be in business in today’s music industry climate, you need to perform all tasks including management, marketing, merchandising, recording and releasing music. 

Silverback Management/silverbackmusic.net: Silverback Management was started in 1996 while Jon Phillips, who was doing A&R for Gasoline Alley, took over management duties on Sublime, who he both discovered and signed in 1993. In 1998 Jon Phillips joined forces with his brother Matt and took on two new clients -Long Beach Dub All Stars and Slightly Stoopid. Silverback currently has 6 bands under management contracts (Sublime, Slightly Stoopid, Pepper, Fishbone, Beautiful Girls, and The Expendables). 

Controlled Substance Sound Labs – Our new label and distribution funnel which has currently released 3 recent albums through Sony’s independent distributor RED- Slightly Stoopid-“Chronchitis” which debuted as the #2 indie record on billboard and #52 on the top 200 chart, and #8 debut at Itunes.is the marquee title that launched the label on August 7th, 2007. Current titles include “The Expendables”, and The Beautiful Girls “Ziggurats”, and in 2008 the anticipated release of Pepper’s highly anticipated 4th studio album on the heels of 2 recent major motion picture synchs and a headlining stint on the infamous Warped Tour

Good Charlotte is an American rock band from Waldorf, Maryland that formed in 1996. They took their name from the children's book called "Good Charlotte: The Girls of Good Day Orphanage," written by Carol Beach York.

The members of the band are the identical twin brothers Joel Madden (lead vocals) and Benji Madden (guitars and backing vocals), Billy Martin (guitars, keyboards), Paul Thomas (bass guitar) and Dean Butterworth (drums).

As a firm that has represented the vision of its artists on the management side, we have created a record label and distribution scenario that caters to the new “independent” minded landscape of the music business, and its changing climate. We maintain a grassroots and artist-friendly environment, with a serious penchant for credible artists that share a somewhat common niche. Some might say there is a “California” sound to our roster, but we just love good music, and although we represent musicians from all over the map, our artists seem to have a common bond with one another stylistically in some form.
